Summer was coming to an end officially as the first few weeks of school passed by. It was almost a month in, and October was on its way. The entire day James had been out with different people; Kaylee for a while, then Ronnie and Derek for a bit, and he was home about four o’clock. It being a Saturday, he assumed Jayden would be out for a couple of hours too, and return about the time of bedtime. The frat parties were almost a constant, and just different college things kept him out of the house a lot. James didn’t mind it all too much, but he did mind seeing him with a friend he’d made, who seemed to be all over Jayden. He respected that he was happy to have a gay friend, I mean, he went through hell last year when he came out; but the touching really bothered James, and more than anything, he was feeling like he wasn’t good enough for Jayden anymore. Honestly, he was a college hottie, and James was still a high school kid, and one who was going down-hill at that. He couldn’t keep his grades up, he was starting to care less about them, and he’s become a totally disruptive and annoying kind of student. James didn’t think much of it, because he didn’t change much as far as being himself went, other than being even more easily distracted and being a little bit more of a party animal. He was getting out there more, doing drugs sometimes, but mostly just drinking when he could. It wasn’t excessive yet, though, only on Friday nights. Right now he was on Jay and his bed, doing homework that could’ve been finished in about thirty minutes for the average person, but it was going on three or four hours now.
He couldn’t concentrate on anything. He tried his best on half of it, but with extreme frustration, he scribbled down random things and tossed the binders off the bed, bringing his knees up and holding his head with both hands. He took a couple of deep breaths and got off the bed, getting out of his jeans and tight shirt, putting on a loose “a day to remember” tee on, and some gym shorts from middle school. How did they still fit him? He didn’t know, but he thought they were comfortable as hell, so he kept them. They were blue with his middle school’s mascot and name in the bottom corner, and had a silky material that just made him feel comfortable. A nice shower probably would make him more at ease right now, but he decided he’d just do some house stuff, like the laundry, and dishes. Since it was only the two of them, it was easy to pick up, and he didn’t mind doing it. He was much more comfortable with a clean house, and it was just how he was raised, to clean up always. After about ten minutes of cleaning he looked around and noticed he didn’t have anything else to do, so he plopped down on the couch and laid on it, resting his eyes and putting some soft music on. It was Mona Lisa playing right now by The Summer Set. He smiled to himself, thinking about Jayden during it, and then the song ended and right in the pause of the song switching to another he heard his text tone go off. Figuring it was probably Kaylee, he got up and picked his phone up off the ground—he didn’t know why it was there, he was really careless when it came to the blue Samsung Gravity Smart.
Before reading the text message he crossed his legs and sat on the ground, opening his phone up and reading that it was in-fact from his mom. Yeah, he texted his mom, often actually. He couldn’t help it. He was a mama’s boy, and being away from her was weird for him. Most of her texts were just checking up on him, but not this one. No, this was something he did not want to read, and his heart jumped out of his chest when he read it. His dad’s trial was coming up, on October 22nd. Already? And he was supposed to testify, too. He really didn’t want to, but he knew he had to. Luckily, he actually had a camera that he’d taken pictures of all his bruises and marks on since about the eighth grade. That was more than enough evidence. He just didn’t like the fact that he’d have to do it in the first place. He hadn’t even told Jayden about the camera, let alone shown anyone. It was back in his house, sitting in his dresser. He sighed and texted back, ‘Okay, I will. I’m going to bed right now, though. Love you, mommy.’ He bit his lip and turned his phone off after sending it, not planning on actually going to bed, but he couldn’t keep talking to her or really anyone after hearing that news. He had been doing alright after the whole ordeal, but he had frequent nightmares, and he was seeing a therapist weekly. He wanted to see her more often or for a longer amount of time, but he was scared he was asking too much of his mom, even if he knew they could afford it. Luckily for his family, his dad’s books still made a lot of money, and his mom’s job did too. He covered his face with his hands and headed into the kitchen, making some ramen noodles and getting a mountain dew to cheer him up a little bit. He put the TV tray out and ate while watching SpongeBob, laughing occasionally at it, and smiling through most of it. it didn’t take much to get this kid’s mind somewhere else. After the episode ended he looked at the block and wondered when Jayden would come home. Even if he was a little upset with him about the friend, he really wanted him just to be there.

I’d catch a grenade for you
those lips. Those pink luscious lips that just reeled Jayden in were staring at him, practically begging him to come closer and press his own to them. A light smile appeared on jayden’s face as the aroma of the pine tree’s surrounding the two tingled his smelling senses, the two hadn’t been able to do this in a while, just them two, enjoying each other’s company. Jayden leaned in unable to resist his boyfriend for much longer, finally allowing their lips to meet, the innocent kiss instantly turning into a deeper one. The kiss became much hotter as time went by, their bodies grinding against one anothers as light moans left both of their mouths. Jayden started to get a little too excited and juices began to explode in his pants, and simultaneously a change of scenery came into view. His eyes fluttered open as he couldn’t help but let out another moan as he finally woke up from the extremely vivid wet dream he was just having.
He looked around and scratched his head, he wasn’t at his own place, he was at Colin’s, his body wrapped up in his friend’s bed sheets. He stretched a bit, his friend was nowhere to be found, which was expected. He had let Jayden into his dorm room to sleep off the drunkness before he had to drive home, while he, Colin, continued to party at the frat house. Sure, Jayden could have easily just kept partying and just slept over Colin’s place, but Jayden wasn’t comfortable with sleeping without James in his arms. He didn’t know how he even fell asleep this time without James. He was glad Colin wasn’t around though, the whole… excitement in the pants thing, would have been an awkward thing to explain waking up. Jayden sat up, rubbed his eyes and reached to get his cell phone. No calls or texts from James, but it was about 1am and he knew he had to head home now. He put on his shoes and gathered his pocket items; he had successfully slept off the alcohol, so he was more than ready to drive safely home. He walked out of the dorm room, walked through the building and out to the parking lot to get into his car.
The drive home was faster than usual, maybe it was because jayden felt himself speeding a bit, wanting to get home quickly. He hadn’t been able to see James a lot since school started, mostly because his classes were getting hectic with all of the homework and because jayden was now pledging a fraternity. Jayden had to admit though, he loved college life, it was extremely different from high school. He felt more independent and comfortable with life, he just hated that he didn’t get to see his boyfriend as much every day. By the time he usually got home, he was either tired, had to work on homework, or still drunk from the party he had just came from. Jayden expected James to be fast asleep when he got home, which sucked, but at least James would be in his arms, right? He parked his vehicle in their driveway and headed inside. Opening the door and to his surprise, he saw James on the couch, a tv try in front of him, and late night cartoons playing on the television screen. ”Hey babe, sorry I’m late… Colin’s bed put me into a deeper sleep than I expected, it’s sooo comfortable” he closed the door behind him and threw his keys on the nearest flat surface, not realizing how bad the words he had just spoken sounded. He stretched his arms out, ”but I’m here” he smiled, ”and sober now”, he said as he looked around, noticing the place a lot cleaner than before. He took off his hoodie and threw it on the arm of the couch as he kicked off his shoes, trying to get comfortable. "what have you been up to?"

His eyes were beginning to flutter, his alertness starting to fade. James had finished his food and put it away, the TV tray still in front of him, and he was lying sideways but still kind of sitting up on the couch. He stretched his arms and looked at the clock, running his hand through his hair and letting out a sigh. He looked at the door, wondering when Jayden was going to come home, and he decided if he didn’t come within the next thirty minutes then he’d go on to bed without him, confident that Jayden would be there in the morning when he woke up. This arrangement was definitely not James’ favorite, in fact, he felt a lot like he was being left in the dark, but he was incredibly happy for Jayden. He wanted him to be happy – and that was exactly what college was making him. Plus, James had known for a while that college would definitely be a little bit a problems, but he had faith that they could make it through. Sometimes, like now, he lost that faith, and just hoped that Jayden wouldn’t decide he needed more of a college man. He thought about it almost all the time, but when he was with him it wasn’t so bad. It had just been a really long time since they could make love without being interrupted, and he really missed it. The door opened and his eyes opened immediately, a smile popping up on his face, and he turned slightly, his face pressed up against the back of the couch and his eyes and hair being the only thing visible, peering out at Jayden. “Hey, babe.” He said, soft enough to sound sleepy, but loud enough for Jayden to hear him. He leaned forward, watching him approach, and he lifted his head up, getting closer to him but not leaving the couch.
Jayden’s words threw him off, and it was like the jealousy was beginning to overwhelm him. The smile washed away almost as quickly as it had come, and he looked away from him, a little bit of an annoyed expression taking its place. “Not much, really… I’ve just been here all night…” He shrugged his shoulders, then looked back at him and noticed that his pants were wet, and his jaw dropped, anger becoming more visible on his face. “… Wait, what? You slept in his bed, it was comfortable, and you were DRUNK…? Jayden! Your pants are..” He was in complete disbelief, and his voice was more raised than it normally ever was. He was beginning to fume with anger, and stood up, mostly looking hurt. “I knew he’d do this. I knew it, I knew it, I fucking knew it.” Over-reacting was one of James’ best talents, and he was definitely nailing it right now. He backed away from him, getting angrier as the seconds went by. “He was better, wasn’t he?” He blurted out, tears of anger starting up, and he wiped them away, not wanting to break yet, but he knew he would at any time. He had knocked over the TV tray when he backed away, and he didn’t bother picking it back up like he normally would have. The loud noise made him flinch when it hit the ground—like loud sudden noises tended to do to him—but he composed himself again, at least in recovery from the flinch. The over-reacted anger was still there, and it was going to stay. When he got mad like this, he really got mad – especially with the stress that he already had with the trial.

I’d catch a grenade for you
it was good to finally be in a familiar place, this was home. Jayden loved being out and having a life for once, but it was always best to just be at home with his boyfriend, James. Just seeing the blonde boys face again brought butterflies to his stomach, as it always did. But the vibe in the room definitely changed and it did rapidly. James went from happy to angry, and It was right when Jayden was about to join him on the couch and greet him with their usual kiss. He stopped in his steps when james began to go off, everything seemed to happen so fast too. He had just gotten home and somehow a fight had begun to erupt, which was weird, considering the pair never really fought before. When james mentioned his pants, jayden looked down to see what he was talking about, he felt like an idiot for not checking. He must have looked like a retard walking down the hallways of the dormitory with a wet spot on his pants, no wonder he was getting odd smirks from guys that walked by, they probably thought he had just gotten lucky. ”wait! No, I can explain--,” he was caught off by james’ continuity of accusations, james had stood up and jayden took a step back, hating how bad this looked right now. Just by the whole ’I can explain ’ made him sound like a cheater, but really, he actually could explain. If james only knew, but he didn’t even give jayden the opportunity to explain, which sort of hurt jayden’s feelings, especially more so when james went on with more accusations.
A look of heavy disbelief came over jayden the more james went, what did he mean ‘he knew he’d do this’? was jayden being accused of having sex with colin? The next words leaving james’ mouth only confirmed it too, which really made jayden a little mad. Never in his life, would he even think of cheating on James. James was his everything, his fucking world, and james really thought he’d throw it away for another guy? Jayden was truly hurt, he almost wanted to cry, but he wasn’t a crier. He looked away, hurt in his eyes, he saw james back away and just didn’t know what to do. A part of him wanted to reassure james that he wasn’t cheating, but the other part wanted to go off because james apparently thought that jayden would do that to him. He heard the tv tray fall to the ground, but didn’t budge. The scene before him was way too intense. ”what?! No! I didn’t sleep with him if that’s what you’re accusing me of, james! And what do you mean you ‘knew it’? he’s my friend. Nothing more! Don’t you trust me?”, he asked, his voice cracking as it hit the word ‘trust’. Jayden looked away, ”you know I was at a party, of course I was drunk,” he said matter of factly, looking back at James. He really was offended that James would even think to accuse him of betraying him. ”Are you fucking kidding me right now? Plus, Colin isn’t even like that! He’s just a friend! What would make you even think that?!”, he felt his voice getting louder, but he couldn’t help it. The topic in general just really pissed him off, he felt almost if James didn’t trust him.

Colin intimidated James, he always felt like he needed to step his game up when he was around, and he didn’t think that was normal when it came to a friend of your boyfriend. He kept angrily wiping his eyes, the tears trying to take over, but he fought them back much as he could, as if he was in a war with his own emotions. He looked away, breathing heavily and backing further away from him. ‘I can explain.’ That was when he really felt cheated on, and he listened to what Jayden was saying, staying angry, and looking away from him. How was he supposed to believe that? He really wanted to, every fiber of his being wanted to, and wanted to just run into his arms and apologize, but the thing was – he didn’t believe that COLIN wasn’t like that. He didn’t know the guy, and for all he knew, he could be after Jayden. He could be one of those guys that just mess with everyone they meet, and steals peoples boyfriends, like in this instance. “That’s fucking bullshit, Colin is too like that!” He scoffed, rolling his eyes and looking away, not being able to look at him. “He touches you! It’s like you don’t even notice! And he does it right in front of me! It’s like he’s trying to steal you away from me, and you don’t even..” he was starting to repeat himself, and the tears were taking over, and he was pulling at his own hair, trying to contain the extreme hyped anger that was filling inside of him. It didn’t really help that he was already feeling like a complete burden on Jayden, always texting him and asking when he was going to be home on party nights. It made him feel horrible. It was like when his mom was gone at work and he’d call her, and he’d ask when she would be home. “And he always eats all of my motherfucking oreo’s! He talks to me like I’m a five year old, and he’s always ALL OVER YOU. I can’t stand it anymore! It only makes sense he’d try and lure you in!” It went without saying that James had a big imagination, and he’d create reasons for things, and make himself even more paranoid than he had to be. There was another thing that was bugging James, and that was the attractive quality of Colin. It seemed like he could easily get anyone he wanted, with those looks. Those muscles. And he was even responsible, smart too. Everything that James wished he obtained currently. He knew he wasn’t ugly, but he had never been very fond of how he looked. Plus, there was a huge difference between college guy and high school kid. He thought so, anyways. And even though James obtained pretty high social status marks, such as being the captain of the football team, he wasn’t even really considered a “popular” kid. Not to mention, your high school status does not follow you, and it’s worth absolutely nothing in the real world, or bigger world of college. He rubbed his face and wiped his eyes again, breathing out and looking back at him, more worry and hurt in his expression than anger, now. “Fuck.” He muttered as he was starting to sob, and couldn’t keep it together much longer, not that he had been very well, but James didn’t take much before starting to cry. “He’s so much better than me…smarter… more mature… fucking better looking... I just don’t want to lose you.”

I’d catch a grenade for you
what was happening? This wasn’t them and everything just felt like it was taken right out of a movie. Sure, there was a change in scenery for each of the boys, Jayden experiencing college making new friends, and James going through his senior year without his boyfriend there to see every day. He understood why James would be paranoid, Jayden had never been able to live out the single gay life, and college would have been the perfect place to experience it. And let’s face it, if Jayden was single, he’d definitely have his options. But no, he was taken, and had found love faster than expected, and he would never throw that away for anyone. He knew he was lucky damn it, who else on earth found the love of their lives in high school? Jayden’s friendship with Colin came fast, the two connected instantly, and it was nice having a gay college friend that was pledging the same fraternity with you, plus the guy was truly awesome. Sure, he was attractive, in fact, he was very attractive, Jayden would be a fool not to notice, but truthfully, he wasn’t James. James was really upset right now, and as much as Jayden wanted to run over and wrap his arms around him, he couldn’t. He felt himself stuck in place, still in disbelief of what he had just been accused of. They were almost on complete opposite sides of the room now; the space between them seemed like a forbidden zone now.
Before Jayden could really explain the mark on his pants, James’ next words definitely threw him off and came to his surprise. Colin wasn’t a boyfriend stealer, at least Jayden didn’t think so, he was just a really good friend. Why couldn’t James just be happy for him that he had made a new friend? Jayden’s eyes narrowed and a scoff left his mouth, ”oh and Ronnie and Derek don’t fucking touch you?! They are the most sexually active gay guys I’ve ever came across and they are ALWAYS touching you, so are you telling me that… something’s going on there too? Huh? You don’t think I notice that shit? You don’t think it bothers me when you’re not home and I know you’re with them? And since when did you even start hanging out with them? They used to fucking harass you…smacking your ass in the hallways at school, I can’t imagine what they do now that you guys are fucking hanging out” it seemed like everything that jayden had been holding in was finally coming out too, he breathed heavily, mostly because all of that seemed to have come out all in one breathe. And he couldn’t help but think that something might have happened with Ronnie or Derek and James, maybe, James was feeling guilty so he began to accuse Jayden to lighten the load of guilt? Jayden could feel himself shaking, he had never fought like this with James and to be honest, he was fucking terrified. Was this it? Was this going to be the end? Jayden leaned against the wall next to the door frame, trying to calm himself down.
Jayden looked down, thinking, he looked up at James, when he heard him begin to sob. Jayden wasn’t sure if what james was saying was true, jayden never really thought about it, or paid much mind to it. He was friends with Colin, nothing more. Even if Colin came on to him or revealed feelings to jayden, nothing would be returned on Jayden’s end. He had to keep himself from running over to James and comforting him, but he was being paranoid and he was wrong right now. ”Look,” he pushed himself off the wall and took a step towards James, but the distance was still pretty big between the two. ”Nothing happened. Even if he tried anything, nothing would ever happen. He let me sleep in his bed, to sleep off the alcohol, so I can come home to you,” he said sternly and walked over to the couch, flopping down on the far end away from where James was standing. He shook his head and looked down at his hands, he could still hear james sniffling, but he just couldn’t bare to look at him right now. ”you know, I thought you knew me better than that… but apparently you don’t even fucking trust me,” he said shaking his head, holding in his own tears, ”I never said anything about you and your new…friends because I trust you,” he finally looked up. ”but I guess I shouldn’t have,” he said sadly, with that a tear slowly slid down his cheek, he felt like he was losing james. James had said he didn’t want to lose Jayden but why did it feel like they were falling apart? Jayden wiped his cheek and blinked, not wanting James to see him cry. He looked down again, this time catching the wet spot in his view, but not even caring anymore to bother explaining. James didn’t trust him and that hurt more than anything right now. He was actually debating on heading back to Colin's place or Kaylee's to spend the night, or maybe he'd even crash in his car, because he really did not feel like being near James right now.

James wasn’t sure what he was feeling right now, but it definitely was not a positive feeling. He was starting to feel worse and worse as the seconds went on, wiping his eyes and stepping back against the wall, sliding down it and feeling like the whole world was coming down with him. He listened to Jayden, though, and didn’t say a word until he was done. When he tried to talk again, nothing came out –except some incoherent gibberish. He couldn’t form his words together, and he was shaking his head rapidly, then stopped and took a couple of deep breaths. “No!” He finally got out, feeling damn proud that he got it out, too. He had been biting on his lip something fierce the whole time, and he tasted a little bit of blood, but it went away when he wiped it off. The pride didn’t last long, it had gone away in a mili-second, and he could hardly keep the composure he’d finally gained. “That… no…that doesn’t happen anymore! Derek tries to, but I don’t let him! And he’s not really my friend, he’s just there! You can’t get Ronnie without Derek, I swear!” He wiped his eyes, getting worked up again, and losing his topic. What he had said wasn’t what he was getting at, and he hated that the most about his train of thoughts, recently. It was terrible, and he really, really despised having ADHD. He didn’t get it, was his medication not working? He took it religiously every day, in hopes that it would help him during school and just in general. He was having a hard time keeping up with everything, and everything was so fast. School really just sucked lately, it used to be good at least because there would be Glee, and he’d have a good time in class. But lately, his grades were constantly stressing him out, Glee club wasn’t as fun because Mr. Grey was being a total prick lately, and most people really didn’t like him. Girls, yeah, whatever, but he wanted GUY friends. And unfortunately, he didn’t go a day without being accused of looking at someone’s crotch in the locker room.
“Ronnie… he – he – h-“He coughed, breathing out, closing his eyes and leaning his head back on the wall, hitting it a couple of times. He felt really bad about accusing him now, but walking in like that… how could he not? It was an overreaction, all together, too. Otherwise, he would’ve let him explain. Plus, he hadn’t had a very good day to begin with, and this was just the icing on the cake. “I wouldn’t do anything with him, ever. I didn’t want to then, I don’t want to now, and when I dated him in the 9th grade I didn’t even want to. He’s just my friend. He’s the only guy in the fucking school that will talk to me, okay?” He wiped his eyes again, that being what he paused to do sometimes. His speech was fast and hard to understand, “His last priority is me. He’s going through shit of his own. And he doesn’t try anymore. We talked about it. I let him know that anything we ever had was gone and in the past, and YOU are where my heart’s at.” He finally looked up at him when he said that last line, a look of desperation in his eyes. He still didn’t sound very clear, and he probably wouldn’t for a couple of minutes, but he at least had his thoughts half-way organized as for what exactly he was trying to say to him. “I’m so sorry… I just… I thought… when you came in like that,” he paused to wipe his eyes and rested his head on his arms, his face hidden, “I thought it was all gone, everything, you’re all I have left, and today everything else was just falling apart the res t of the way before you came in… like that… and said that… I thought you were trying to… and… and… I do trust you… I don’t know!” He lost himself, holding his head, really getting frustrated with himself and hitting his head against the wall out of frustration. It took him about a minute to add on, with a calmer piece of mind, “I’m sorry… what happened to your pants?” he looked at him, willing to listen now, but he knew he might not be willing to explain anymore. He rubbed his own face, already getting angry with himself, he really wished he hadn’t said anything and just let him explain.

this felt extremely weird and jayden felt more than out of the place. He had never yelled and cursed at james so much before, and he really didn’t like the feeling. The two had been dating for almost a full year and this was seriously the first time they really got into it. It was worse because it seemed almost as if both had been harboring some feelings about certain aspects of the others life. But it was all out and accusations were made, jayden wasn’t sure what was going to happen in the next few minutes, but he tried his best to keep his breathing steady and not lose his temper too much. He didn’t want to lose james and throwing shit or storming out wasn’t going to solve anything, which was why he was now sitting on the couch, his hands busy with the fabric on the side of his jeans. He hated this feeling, this feeling of not knowing, the feeling of not being in control of things, the feeling of possibly losing the one person he thought would be in his life forever. He felt almost if he was in some sort of bad dream, one he couldn’t wake up in, and he hated every minute of it. He hated the looks james was giving him and he hated the looks he was giving to james. Why couldn’t he had just came home, kissed his boyfriend, and snuggled in the bed the rest of the night happily just like every other night? Why was this night so fucking different? Did jayden really give off the impression that he could have possibly been cheating?
Jayden looked at James as he began to speak again, getting a tad bit angrier when he mentioned that Derek still tries to, he held it in though. It was true what James had said about not getting Ronnie without Derek, but that didn’t mean Jayden liked James hanging out with either of them. Jayden frowned a bit as he watched James hit his head on the wall, he really wished he could see what was going on in James’ mind. Jayden rolled his eyes at the mention of James and Ronnie dating three years ago, he had forgotten all about that, mostly because he had pushed it to the back of his mind because of how repulsive it was to even think that James could be with Ronnie. Jayden’s eyes darted back to James when he said that Ronnie was the only guy in the school that talked to him, it sort of made jayden feel bad, and a little hurt that james hadn’t told him that he was having trouble finding male friends. James seemed to have really needed Jayden more now that he was gone a lot, emotionally and mentally, and it killed Jayden that he hadn’t tried harder to do just that. He was just too excited about college and had wanted to do it all at once, but perhaps, that wasn’t the best thing to do, at least for his relationship, not so soon.
’YOU are where my hearts at’ the words immediately got Jayden’s expression to soften, it was nice hearing those words out-loud. Their eyes locked again and Jayden could see the honesty and desperation in his boyfriend’s eyes, he nodded lightly believing every word of it. But that didn’t fix the accusations James had thrashed upon him. Jayden sighed and looked directly at James, ”Come here,, he opened his arms up for his boyfriend to join him. James hesitated at first, but eventually made his way over and Jayden wrapped his arms around him comfortably. ”As far as my pants go… I’ve told you before… you’re the boy of my dreams… even the wet ones,” he chuckled a bit at the sound of his own words. ”but seriously, james, you’re all I want…all I need.. and it kills me that I don’t get to see you as often I used to… I hate that I’m a year older than you and I have to go to another school.. but isn’t it better that we actually live together? Imagine if you still lived at home? … and remember… I went to school here for you.. for us… “, he said, thinking of TMU wanting to give him a football scholarship and it being the biggest opportunity of his life, but he turned it down anyways for love.”I’m not throwing this away for anything or ANYONE, you’re the one for me… forever and ever babe… I promise,” he said before planting a soft kiss on james’ forehead, ”now what did you mean everything was falling apart before I came home?” he asked concerned. ”talk to me, babe” he gave james a light squeeze, ”is everything okay?”, he would always be here for james and he could only hope that james would actually know that now.

James’ emotions were all over the place and that was clear on his face, just by taking one look at him you’d notice that he was out of his mind in feeling. He breathed heavily and tried to stop himself from beginning to cry again, but he did anyway, and he couldn’t stop staring at Jayden. It was quite the improvement though – he at least had focus on his boyfriend now, rather than his eyes jumping everywhere from the inability to focus. He listened to him and nodded, his lip quivering and he shook throughout his whole body, crawling halfway there and getting up on his knees, standing up and hugging around him sitting on his lap, tucking his head under his chin and curling into him. He closed his eyes and tilted his head up, re-opening them and squeezing him back as he listened to him. He smiled a little at his comment and giggled some; he couldn’t believe he got mad at him for having a wet dream about HIM. Of course, James hadn’t known about it at the time… it just seemed silly now that he knew the truth about the situation. He was calming down more at every word, trying his best to stop crying all together, but it was a known fact that he had a hard time coming down from an ultimate high of upset. It was a childish quality, but that was just how he functioned. He hated it, but he knew Jayden had to be used to it by now. Even if they didn’t fight often, it didn’t mean that James didn’t get upset like this from time to time. Actually, it was probably more often than either of them liked. He stopped giggling and looked more sincere, nodding, a little smile on his face at the mention of the college thing.
He kissed Jayden’s cheek and nuzzled his head on his neck, “Yeah… I couldn’t imagine that… not having you at all…” He shook his head and sniffled a little bit, his breathing still off. He took a couple of deep breaths and squeezed him tighter, “I love you…” He said quietly after Jayden had finished talking, but then he said something else and his composure was gone again. He shook his head and took his phone out, turning it on, and looking at him with really teary eyes. “It… I… just a second…” He pulled up the IM style text messages between his mother and himself and held it at a comfortable distance from Jayden’s face, his hand shaking violently while holding the phone up for him. It was her basically explaining that the trial was on the 22nd, and everything that went with it. “I have to testify… and show my evidence… or he might get away with it…” He said quietly, looking at him and putting the phone away when he thought that he was done reading. “And… I’m just so tired of spending four hours on thirty minute homework, Jay… I don’t think my medication is working anymore…”

I’d catch a grenade for you
jayden was more than relieved that the hostility in the room had died down, he couldn’t take it any longer. His arms were wrapped loosely around james’ small but muscular body as he spoke to him, trying to make his boyfriend feel better. He really did love james, with all of his heart, and he hated seeing him so down, especially if he was one of the reasons why he was so distressed. He liked it when james was in his arms like this, it made him feel so much more masculine and made him realize how much james depended on his comfort. He liked feeling needed and wanted, especially when it came to james. Jayden couldn’t help but lightly smile at the sound of james’ giggle, that cute giggle that just pulled on jayden’s heart strings. He gave a nod and sighed a bit as he held james in his arms, wondering what had been bothering him. Jayden couldn’t help but feel slightly out of the loop, but that was his own fault. He wasn’t home as much as he used to be and by the time he did get home, james would already be sleeping on the couch with the TV still on. Jayden had to admit to loving those moments though, knowing that James had tried to stay up and wait for him, but it wasn’t always that he’d actually make it till then. Jayden would always carry him to the bed though right after, waking up james for just a second, just to get his quick goodnight kiss. ”I love you too babe,”
As soon as jayden had asked what had happened, james’ composure had stiffened and the vibe in the room had grown a bit chilly. Jayden kept his eyes on james’ light ones, and the look in his eyes, saddened jayden. Something more important and serious was going on and Jayden wanted to know what exactly. James held his cell up for jayden to read the conversation between james and his mother, jayden shifted a bit in his seat as he attempted to get a better look. He read through them, his heart dropping as he finished. Jayden looked at James, ”you can do it… you’re stronger than you think, you know that right? I can go with you if you want… I’ll skip school… you need all the support you can get.” Jayden knew it would be hard for james to face his father again and talk about the past traumatic events, but james had to do it, he had to have his father punished for what he had done to him. Jayden was just so glad that he was there to pretty much rescue him from that household, from that man’s beating range. He hated thinking about the time when he first found out about it all, james was pretty much lying unconscious on the floor when he and Benny had arrived. It was one of the worst things that he had ever seen.
Jayden’s eyes narrowed as James continued, informing jayden that he didn’t think his medicine was working. ”are you taking it as prescribed? You know, if you skip a day or two, things can go…..off….” he asked concerned, ”maybe you can ask your mom to schedule an appointment for you? Like to get a checkup?” he suggested, hoping everything was alright. He wasn’t used to being around people that needed medications for mental disabilities, but he was trying his best here, for james.

James caressed Jayden’s cheek gently, looking at him with soft, sad eyes that searched only for comfort. He really did depend on him, in some ways more than even his own mother. He had helped him through his darkest of days and he trusted that the two of them would always be there for each other, no matter what circumstances or complications lie in-between. A tear slipped down, accompanied by another and one after that. He sobbed gently for just a moment or two before wiping them away, nodding gently. “Yeah… please… actually… I need you there.” He told him, quietness in his voice that was just loud enough for Jayden to hear. If anyone else had been in the room they wouldn’t have heard it. He pressed his eyes against Jayden’s shoulder and calmed himself down, trying to stop thinking of that day. “I know…”he said; looking at him again, but fear was apparent in his eyes. “It’s just… I’ve had nightmares of seeing him again, and now it’s really happening. Just being in the same city as him scares me…” He said, shaking his own head with a frown.
He thought for a moment – was he doing it right? After thinking it through he looked at him and bobbed his head up and down for a quick yes before adding, “Yeah, almost religiously…” He rubbed his own face and sighed. “I know… I need to soon. People keep making fun of me for it… it’s like first grade all over again.” He said with a yawn, rubbing his eyes and looking at him, a sleepiness running through his whole body. When he got wound up like that he got tired quickly after, and this was a prime example of that. He didn’t know if Jayden had previously known much about his ADHD, but James didn’t necessarily like to tell people about it. It was embarrassing to say the least, and just awkward to talk about because it was just so severe. Some people joked about it, and he would find offense sometimes, because it wasn’t just about a short attention span. Every aspect of his personality and way of thinking was affected by this cursed disorder, and without medication to balance it out he was a complete mess.
